Are You Travelling Again Yet?

Airplane aisle with passengers

Wow – it’s been over two years now since many people have ventured out of their homes for anything other than groceries and maybe visits to medical facilities. I think many people have decided to get back to “normal” (whatever that might be at this point) but there are still a lot of face masks in public places around my home.

Now, don’t get me wrong – I think it’s great that people are getting out and doing stuff again. If wearing a mask helps them feel more comfortable, I’m all for it. Whatever works.

Personally, I’ve been getting a little antsy over the past few months. I’ve taken a few trips because I just can’t stand to be cooped up in the house anymore! And I have to say, there seem to be a lot of other people who feel the same way, judging by the number of people I’m seeing in the airports. I find it really amusing that the airports try to block off every second seat in the waiting areas, to allow for social distancing… but then they cram us into airplanes that are filled to capacity! It was kind of nice back in the early stages of this pandemic, when they only booked people into the aisle and window seats, leaving the centre seats vacant as a nod to social distancing. Not anymore – in fact I haven’t been on a flight in 2022 where they didn’t announce that the flight was going to be “very full” and they’d love to check our carry-on luggage free of charge to ensure there’s space for everyone’s bags in the cabin.

So, why am I travelling if I’m not happy with the conditions available?

Well, that’s simple – I absolutely LOVE house and pet sitting, and the more opportunities I get to help out people and their pets, the happier I am!

I just spent an AMAZING month in the Phoenix, Arizona, area – August/September is definitely warm there! I tell people I’m trying to figure out what climate is “too hot” for me… I haven’t found it yet, but I’m getting closer. I think the ultimate climate is somewhere in the range of 25C-30C (roughly 75F-85F). That allows for shorts and T-shirts, but isn’t so hot you’re sweating just because you’re outside. I’m willing to err on the warmer side, of course… better than putting on a sweater! Ha ha

I’m starting to book up my winter months for sits in places where (I’m hoping) it doesn’t snow! Mexico is high on the list… if you’re in Mexico and looking for a vacation in January-April, let me know – I might well be available to pet sit for you!
